They say that necessity is the mother of innovation - indeed that was the case when I made my first Yacht Cradle for my Contessa Yacht in 2019. Since then, our cradles have been shipped all over the Country.

What was the problem? 

Like many, we stowed our cradle in the Yard during the winter and had been frustrated with the various ‘hire’ cradles we’d had to deal with over the years.  Eventually, we decided to invest in our own cradle and being an engineer, that naturally meant developing our own which resolved the niggles of those available on the market.

The floodgates Opened!

The day we assembled our first Cradle, we were asked if we’d make the same for other boat owners… since then, we have supplied private owners and yards all over the country.  

We didn’t stop there.  

Since our first Cradle, we have listened to the feedback received and have introduced a number of improvements, all focussed on making a stronger, safer and more maintainable cradle.  These Include:

• Shore-Fast (our Registered Design)
  • Utilises a Combination of Interlocking Pins and U-Struts.  This eliminates the risk of centre-board ‘ Slip’ and minimises ‘Flex’ in the cradle.

• Centre Board Extension
  • Coupled with the rigidity of the Shore Fast design, our cradles centre-boards are now extendable by 200mm per joint. 

• Leg Post Reinforcement
  • An area of high stress is the head of the A frame post. We added a full 'Tie Ring’ to eliminate the chance of failure in this area.  Overkill, possibly… but better to be safe. 

• Minimised Thread Fittings
  • Threaded fittings like Nuts and Bolts are essential in certain applications however, where they are not… they have been replaced with Pins to reduce the burden of maintenance and ease assembly/disassembly.

Adjustable in all Axis, our Cradles are versatile, strong and importantly Transportable in a small car! The images below show the adjustment in our 6 Leg, 2.0m Cradle. 

GENERAL NOTES

All Cradles are constructed from structural grade steel and are CNC machined, for consistent quality.  

All parts are acid etched and protected through Hot Dip galvanising to ensure the entire cradle is protected from the harsh saltwater environment.

The centre sections are modular and are available to add on to any std cradle, to accommodate hulls of longer LoA.
